Written at 30,000 ft while flying cross-country to Napa while watching The Greatest Showman (for the 10th time because it is seriously one of my favorites)! I mean, the soundtrack…It’s everything.
Ohhh wine, how I love thee
So, you may or may not know this already about me, but I love red wine. I love white wine too, but I LOVE red wine. Cab, Pinot, Merlot — I love them all. When I first met my husband Eric, he would indulge me and have a glass every now and then…but over the years, I have completely converted him into a major wino like myself. There aren’t many nights that we don’t open a bottle with dinner, or after the kiddos are tucked away in bed.
Every year on our anniversary, we splurge and buy a bottle of Caymus (one of our favorites that Eric discovered on a fancy business dinner), but to be honest, our very favorite bottle of wine that we stock up on in BULK is $8.99 – it is seriously the smoothest cab and I couldn’t care less about the price tag, we simply love it. Try it. You’re welcome.
A Birthday Surprise
Earlier this week, Eric surprised me for my birthday with a trip to Napa! It is a trip we have been talking about for years, but haven’t been able to take because of basically back-to-back pregnancies and raising two little ones.
We are totally winging it and don’t have much of an itinerary — we are just going to see where the weekend takes us. We do have a tasting reservation at Caymus, which I’m looking forward to, but aside from that, we have gotten lots of recommendations to visit some of the smaller wineries. Frog’s Leap has been highly recommended by many so I’m sure we will make a stop there!
Since this was a total surprise and I didn’t have much time to prepare for planning outfits, I’m a little nervous about my wardrobe selections (stocked full of heels & booties of course because I don’t really wear flats). But whenever I am in doubt of what to wear, black and white is a go-to and always a safe bet. Its a classic, timeless pair and has a way of making me feel like [QUEEN] Audrey Hepburn in an instant 🙂
