I’m so excited to share with your our recent trip to Scottsdale, Arizona! I recently asked on my Instastories if you were interested in more than just fashion, such as lifestyle and beauty and the answer was a resounding yes! I’m really excited to branch out, because let’s face it, I could talk about clothes and style all day every day but sometimes, a little variety is nice.
If you didn’t notice, I’ve added a lifestyle tab to my navigation to help you easily find your way to the type of posts you’re looking for going forward. Of course, I still have my Fashion section, where I talk about style and tips. Then I have my Shop section, which easily allows you to click around items I’m wearing or coveting, and shop directly from the links. Disclaimer: I may make small commissions from purchases made from RoseyKate.com, which help to keep the site running. Now I’ve added Lifestyle, which will cover topics such as travel, health & fitness (think recipes, workouts), and just general thoughts about life (such as my Five things I’ve learned in 5 years of Marriage post).
I hope you enjoy the new content, and of course if there is anything you’re ever interested in, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment, email me, or reach out on Instagram DM!
Scottsdale Recap
For the past year or two, when planning where we would go for our fifth wedding anniversary, we kept throwing out the idea of Hawaii. I had never been, and Eric had been once but for just a few days. Well, as you may recall, we ended up going to Hawaii in February because Eric was awarded Winner’s Circle for his job, so we were back to the drawing board for our travel plans.
We talked about several options, but kept delaying the planning because life was feeling a little busy and we were both traveling prior to our upcoming anniversary. The week before it got here, we opened a bottle of wine and started to get down to it. I on my laptop, and Eric on his, we were both googling flights, hotels, timezones, weather forecasts. We were very close to going to Charleston (which is somewhere we have always wanted to go) but at the last minute decided we would much rather have a laid back, spend our days poolside in guaranteed hot weather kind of trip. Scottsdale was our winner! We had been once before for our babymoon with Leo and decided that would be our spot.
We booked our stay at the Canyon Suites at the Phoenician Resort; it had nice rooms, sits right at the foot of Camelback Mountain, and had multiple pools and restaurants to choose from. No brainer! Once we arrived, the lovely people at the resort upgraded our room to a suite – if you didn’t catch my instastories, it was huge! 1200 square feet, two bathrooms, a dining room and living room with a separate master onsuite, and a great balcony overlooking the golf course.
We immediately changed into our bathing suits and headed to the pool to enjoy the gorgeous weather and our first cocktails of the trip. The Sunrise Sangria was soooo good and the perfect start!
For dinner that night (it was actually the day of our anniversary), we went to Cafe Monarch. I had read it about it online prior to arriving and was able to snag one of the only reservations left for the weekend. According to Travelocity, it was voted as the third best restaurant in the U.S. for fine dining and the second most romantic restaurant in the country! We were seated outside on the terrace which was so dreamy! Think string lights, plants, candles, and lanterns! They feature a four course prix fixe menu, and every single thing we had was nothing short of amazing.
The Canyon Suites puts out an amazing breakfast bar daily, so we took full advantage of this! We even made friends with one of the staff, and he made us speciality items every day on top of the breakfast bar, including avocado rice with sunny side up egg, scrambled eggs with goat cheese, sun ripened tomatoes and mushrooms, and just good ole’ avocado toast. He was amazing (name is Derek) and went way over the top for us. He even made us some guac and a bag full of tortilla chips to take as an afternoon snack!!
Our days were mostly spent poolside, although we were able to get a workout in each day, so that was wonderful! Eric and I talked about hiking Camelback Mountain, but decided we wanted to get a quick workout in and then hang poolside as much as we could (we have turned into total pool rats). We were able to hop around between pools which was awesome because they each had their own vibe; and they even have an adults only pool which was nice.
For our second night out, we had reservations at Sel, which was another top rated restaurant, but we decided after having Cafe Monarch, we wanted to go a little more casual and a little more Mexican! We headed to Barrio Queen which came highly recommended by one of the resort bartenders; they carry over 300 tequilas!! We were able to snag two seats at the bar and enjoyed some amazing guacamole and tacos (and of course, I got the Jalapeño Marg). Our favorites: Carnitas, Cochinitas, and Huevo con Chorizo.
After dinner we walked around a bit and popped in and out of some bars in Old Scottsdale, which is such a charming little downtown (more string lights!). We walked around and ending up popping into The Montauk; the cutest nautical vibes that make you feel as if you are really hanging out in the Hamptons. We sat outside on the patio, and watched so many pedal wagons rolling by!
By the way. Each night when you arrive back at the Canyon Suites, they offer a Sweet Night Serenity Bar. This adorable station includes three different bath salts and soaks where you can make your own tin for a night of relaxation and serenity. I opted for the Arnica & Lavender salt, and although I didn’t use it there, I did bring it home to save for future. Such a nice touch, I seriously love this resort!
Our day we decided we wanted to spend as much time as possible at the pool, so we planned for a full day there and decided to stay at the resort for dinner. We grabbed burgers at The Tavern and then walked around the property. The pools are open 24 hours, which is something you don’t run into often but people were definitely taking full advantage!
This Scottsdale trip was amazing! We love it here and definitely plan to come back (hopefully) annually. Looking forward to sharing our Denver trip soon!
